Getting started & pricing
How much does pool service cost?
Weekly plans start at Sea Turtle $130/month (chemistry only), Manta Ray $145/month (full weekly cleaning plus a report and photo) and Dolphin $160/month (adds power vacuuming), billed in advance each month. Your price depends on your pool's size, an attached hot tub, trees and other factors, so we'll give you a personalized quote. Compare plans.
My pool is bigger than 6,000 gallons. How is it priced?
Larger pools, and pools with attached spas or water features, get a personalized quote. It's free and there's no commitment. Request a quote.
Do you have any specials?
New customers get $50 off the first month. And if you refer a neighbor who signs up, you'll earn a $50 credit on your invoice.
How do I get started?
Fill out our quote form, or call or text (904) 638-6045. We'll confirm your address is on our route, give you a clear price, and set your service day.
Is there a contract?
We'll go over our service agreement with you before service starts. Just ask when you request your quote.
What don't you service?
We focus on in-ground residential pools, including spas attached to them. We don't service above-ground pools, standalone hot tubs or swim spas.
Weekly service
What happens at a weekly visit?
We test and balance the water, skim, brush the walls and steps, clean the tile line, vacuum as needed, empty the skimmer and pump baskets, clean the filter as needed, and check your equipment. What's included depends on your plan. See weekly service.
Do I need to be home?
No. We just need access to the pool and equipment. Please leave the gate unlocked and keep pets inside on your service day.
How will I know what was done?
Manta Ray and Dolphin plans include a pool report and photo after every visit.
Why weekly service?
Florida sun, afternoon storms and spring pollen change pool water fast. A weekly visit keeps the chemistry steady, keeps algae from getting a foothold, and catches equipment problems early. If you'd rather do the cleaning yourself, the Sea Turtle plan covers just the chemistry.
What if it rains on my service day?
Afternoon storms usually pass quickly, so we work around them. If heavy weather pushes a visit back, we'll let you know.
What's the No Green Guarantee?
We stand behind our work. If your pool turns green while you're on weekly service, call or text us and we'll make it right.
Water & chemistry
Can I get just the chemicals handled, and clean the pool myself?
Yes. That's the Sea Turtle plan: digital water analysis and chemistry balancing starting at $130/month. Learn more.
Why does my pool go cloudy after a storm?
Heavy rain dilutes chlorine, changes pH and washes in debris and pollen. Weekly testing lets us adjust quickly, before cloudy water turns green.
Do saltwater pools still need service?
Yes. A salt system makes chlorine, but the water still needs balancing, the salt level needs checking, and the salt cell needs regular cleaning. See saltwater service.
Should I convert my pool to salt?
It can be a great option. Weigh the upfront and ongoing costs first. Read our guide: Considering the Switch to Saltwater?
Equipment & repairs
Do you repair pumps, filters and heaters?
Yes, for our service customers. We diagnose the problem, explain whether to repair or replace, and quote the work before we start. See equipment repair.
Are repairs included in my monthly plan?
No. Repairs and parts are quoted separately, so you'll always know the cost before any work is done.
How often should my filter be cleaned?
It depends on how much the pool is used and how much debris gets in. We service cartridge, sand and DE filters, watch the pressure gauge, and clean or backwash the filter when it needs it, which is often more frequently in spring and summer. See filter cleaning.
Do you repair equipment for pools you don't service weekly?
No. At this time we only provide diagnostic & repair services for existing customers.
Green pools, stains & leaks
My pool is green. Can you fix it?
Yes. Our green-to-clean service usually takes a few visits to bring a pool back. Afterward, we can set up regular service so it stays clear. See a real before and after.
Do you have to drain my pool?
Usually not. Most green pools and many stains can be treated with the pool full. Draining a pool in Florida carries real risk, because groundwater can push an empty pool up, so we avoid it unless it's truly needed. Here's why.
Can you remove stains?
Yes. We figure out whether a stain is organic, metal or scale, then treat it with a method that's safe for your finish. See stain removal.
How do I know if my pool is leaking?
If the water drops more than about ¼ inch a day without rain, try the bucket test. If your pool loses noticeably more than the bucket, call us. See leak detection.
Inspections
Do you inspect pools for home sales?
Yes. We provide residential pool inspections for buyers, sellers and real estate agents, with a detailed report. See pool inspections.
How much does a pool inspection cost, and how long does it take?
$399 for most residential pools, and usually two to four hours on site, depending on the pool's size and features. More inspection FAQs.
Service area & company
Where do you provide service?
Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, east Jacksonville, Palm Valley and nearby parts of eastern Duval and St. Johns counties. See the map.
Why do you keep your service area small?
Short drives between pools mean your tech has time to do the job right, shows up on schedule, and is close by when something comes up. It also keeps our costs, and your price, down.
What are your office hours?
Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. You can also text us at (904) 638-6045.
Are you a franchise?
No. Sharkey Pools is a local, family-run business founded in 2024 by longtime Jacksonville Beach residents. Meet us.
